Product Description
A GRIN lens is a cylindrical optical lens with a radially graded refractive index distribution, featuring focusing and imaging capabilities. When light travels in air and encounters different media, its propagation direction changes due to variations in the refractive index of the media.
Traditional lenses rely on controlling the surface curvature to focus light to a point by generating optical path differences. The difference between a GRIN lens and a conventional lens is that the refractive index of the GRIN lens material decreases gradually along the radial direction. This enables continuous refraction of axially propagating light, allowing the output beam to converge smoothly and continuously to a single point.
