Crystal wedge plates are mainly made of YVO₄ (Yttrium Vanadate) crystal, a uniaxial crystal grown by the Czochralski method. It features excellent mechanical and physical properties, wide transmission range, large birefringence, and good processability, making it an ideal material for optical polarization components. YVO₄ birefringent wedge plates are widely used in fiber-optic communication as key materials for passive optical devices such as optical isolators, circulators, rotators, retarders, and polarizers. They are also high-quality synthetic alternatives to calcite (CaCO₃) and rutile (TiO₂) crystals for beam displacers, Glan polarizers, and other polarization optical components.
